Description:

This roundtable outlines how St. Anthony Regional Hospital, in the rural county of Carroll, Iowa. worked with the Iowa Oncology Research Association to establish a clinical trials program.

  • Lori Pietig, MHA, CT, RT, (R), Cancer Services Director, St. Anthony Regional Hospital
  

Session objectives:

  • Identify challenges faced by a rural hospital/cancer center in establishing a clinical trials program, and discuss methods used to overcome those challenges. 
  • Identify key partners for establishing a clinical trials program in a rural Iowa hospital. 
  • Discuss best practices and resources for establishing a rural clinical trials program.

This Session is especially appropriate for:

  • Hospital/cancer center administrators

  • Trial administrators and coordinators

  • Rural hospital/cancer staff interested in clinical trials.

Attendance is FREE and open to anyone with an interest and/or stake in cancer clinical trials, though topics are specially developed to be pertinent to researchers, research administrators and research coordinators.
