The Iowa Cancer Consortium's Research and Clinical Trials workgroup is excited to invite you all to our summer roundtable. We are pleased to be hosting Jessica Gorzelitz, PhD, and Rima Afifi, PhD, from the University of Iowa as our presenters for our June meeting.

Dr. Jess Gorzelitz is an Assistant Professor of Health Promotion in the Department of Health and Human Physiology at the University of Iowa. This presentation will focus on supportive care clinical trials conducted by Dr. Gorzelitz in cancer survivors, specifically remotely delivered exercise interventions to improve strength and function. Participants will learn about remotely delivered supportive care trials, participant monitoring, and the importance of supportive care clinical trials in cancer survivors.

Dr. Rima Afifi is a professor in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health, and Director of the Prevention Research Center for Rural Health (PRC-RH), College of Public Health, University of Iowa. She will be presenting on the challenges of recruiting rural adolescents to participate in e-cigarette research. This presentation will use Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory to frame the various challenges faced - at the micro, meso, exo, macro and chrono systems - in recruiting adolescents to participate in e-cigarette research in Iowa.
